Following the removal of the three point penalty for a team failing to fulfil a fixture, we seem to be getting a higher than normal figure of teams forfeiting matches this season. Can I ask all team captains to show consideration for the league and try, if possible, to rearrange the fixture within the six week window allowed, rather than simply forfeiting the match. Forfeiting matches shows a lack of respect for the league and can have a detrimental effect on other clubs / teams playing in the league. If you find yourself in a situation where you cannot field a team (even at short notice) on the scheduled night, then advise the opposition captain immediately and then myself. I will consider your request to postpone and, in the majority of cases, I will allow it. I will then ask you to liaise with your opposition captain and set a new date within the next six weeks.
Rule 6.1 in Part 2 of The Rules states that matches shall be played on the date specified in the fixture list, but there is provision to postpone in exceptional circumstances. I would expect all captains to show their opponents, who wish to postpone, some consideration and empathy in cases of genuine difficulties. Please accommodate him if you can.
I thank you all for your co-operation.
