It is now clear that no further play can happen in any CCA competitions this season so the CCA Executive Committee is now calling the season to a close. This is regrettable but the gravity of the covid-19 pandemic makes it necessary.
More than 50% of the fixtures have been played in each division, so the Executive Committee feels that the current league positions should be declared the final positions. I.E:-
League winners and winners of the £40 A division champions prize:- Middlesbrough Rooks
B division winners and winners of the £40 prize:- Middlesbrough Bishops
C division winners and winners of the £40 prize:- Middlesbrough Tyros
Our congratulations to all three Middlesbrough teams.
This also means that, for next season, Middlesbrough Bishops and Great Ayton B will be promoted to the A division and Middlesbrough Tyros and Billingham Synthonia A will be promoted to the B division. Similarly Middlesbrough Knights and Hartlepool A will be relegated to the B division and Redcar B and The Buffs B will be relegated to the C division.
TOM WISE MEMORIAL CUP & JEREMY BURNETT PLATE
Due to the knockout format of these competitions it has been decided to annul both of them for this season. Both competitions were at their semi-final stages so our commiserations to the eight teams that were still in contention at this point.
The CCA Executive, in consultation with the Individual Organiser, feel that this competition should also be annulled this season. Once again our commiserations to all players involved.
The Constitution allows the holding of an AGM up to 31st July, so it is still hoped that it will be possible to do so. However, should this not be possible and, as an emergency measure, the current Executive Committee are pleased to announce that they are happy to remain in post for the start of next season. Accounts will still be compiled and placed on the website for scrutiny and cheques will be sent out to those clubs and individuals eligible for a prize.
Would all current holders of trophies please retain them until it is safe for them to be collected. As soon as the restrictions are lifted the Match Organiser will be in touch and arrange for them to be collected from you so that they can be engraved with this season’s winners.
These are extraordinary times and I hope that members will realise that the Executive committee has had to act in a way which is not necessarily in line with The Rules or the Constitution. We collectively think that the above is the best way to conclude the current season and we thank you all for your patience and understanding.
