The AGM brings to an end my two years as Chairman of the Association. Once again I am deeply indebted to the support of my fellow office holders, all of whom have worked hard in a voluntary capacity to ensure that the season has reached a successful, if not altogether satisfactory conclusion.
Both the Secretary and the Match Organiser have ably covered the key matters that needed to be addressed over the course of the season so I will not go over them again.
Following last year’s AGM I think that the establishment of the Association Fund has been a success and the work done by Julian Allinson in setting the fund up on a legal basis as well as his diligence in carrying out the role of Fund Manager has been commendable.
Looking at the agenda for this year’s AGM it is encouraging to see that we have nominations for Treasurer and Webmaster, posts which haven’t been filled for a couple of years. This should remove the burden from Philip who has covered the Treasurer’s role and Steve Henderson who has stepped in to keep the website up and running – many thanks to both.
Finally I would like to encourage as many members as possible to attend the AGM and contribute to the discussions and decisions made; the continued running of the Association depends on the engagement with its membership.
I would also ask that the members give their full support to the new Chairman and Officers elected at the meeting.
