FIFTEENTH WEEKEND CONGRESS - 15-17 May 2009

  31/05/09 - KO Cup + JB Plate Final

 The Tom wise and Jeremy Burnett plate finals were played at Middlesbrough chess club on Friday, 29th May. The results were as follows:-

 Tom Wise Memorial K.O. Cup :-  Peterlee  3-2  Redcar A

 Jeremy Burnett Plate :-  Griffin A  4-0  Griffin B

 Well done to Peterlee who hold on to the cup for the third consecutive season. Also, well done to Griffin A, beating their club mates by such a resounding margin!

 I would like to pass on my special thanks to Ernie Lazenby and Dave Smith for their tremendous help in getting the venue set up. This ensured that the event got underway at the specified time.

 The finalists of this season’s Knockout Cup competitions have now been determined, they are as follows:-

 Tom Wise Knockout cup      Peterlee v Redcar A

 Jeremy Burnett Plate           Griffin A v Griffin B      

Cleveland League winners and runners up, 2008/09

 Although there are still one or two matches to be played in this season’s league, the tables are such that the winners and runners up of each division have now been decided.

A Division

 This season has produced the unusual situation that two teams are completely tied at the top of the A division. These are PETERLEE and MIDDLESBROUGH A. Congratulations to both teams who share this season’s title.

B Division

 Winners:- GRIFFIN A

 Runner up:- HARTLEPOOL A

C Division

 Winners:- ELMWOOD B
