Notice to all clubs.
Could all club secretaries please get your league team entries to me by 19th September 2019. Please don’t assume that I will automatically include a team in the draw, just because that team played in the league last season. It is important that all teams are confirmed. Remember that the rules on promotion and relegation are quite clear these days and are set out in rule 3.5, Part I of The Rules. Nominated player lists and team captains’ details will also be required before the season can get underway, so please also send these to me at your earliest opportunity. May I also take this opportunity to remind players of the importance of renewing your ECF membership before the new season starts. You can do this from now until the end of September, so there’s plenty of time. Some people commented to me last season that the fact that the ECF would grade games retrospectively, as long as fees were received before the 31st December, meant that CCA should also accept a player’s entry into a competition under the same terms. However this is not the case and CCA has its own set of rules quite distinct from the ECF’s. CCA rules 4.2.3 and the (soon to be added) 4.2.4, plus rule 7.5 in Part II of The Rules, make it quite clear what the penalties are when players who are not members of the ECF participate in CCA events. Also, don’t forget that entries for the two K.O. cup competitions are also required by 30th September. These competitions will be considered as two entirely separate events this season, so players graded under the upper limit for the Jeremy Burnett Plate (probably around 130) will also be permitted to play in the Tom Wise Memorial Cup. Please e-mail all information to email@example.com.
